Project Coordinator

Our Project Coordinators oversee multiple projects and ensure they are all on track. They work closely with all team members, suppliers, customers and other contractors to guarantee a successful Project.  Previous project management experience is an asset. You must be able to work in a fast paced environment, multitask, able to navigate through the unexpected, and have excellent communication skills.   

Estimating

The first step to any project is estimating the cost it will incur.  We have bid on a variety of projects in North Western Ontario, focusing on mining, wastewater/water treatment, sawmills and paper mills. We utilize union and non union workers and have many disciplines under our roof.  An Estimator must have experience with material quotations, be able to read electrical drawing sets, understand manpower requirements and factor in all unseen costs of a job without over bidding a project.  This individual must be fluent in outlook, word, excel and possess basic computer skills. Experience in Accubid is an asset.   

Electrical

Our team has many highly skilled Red Seal Electricians, Master Electricians and electrical engineers. We utilize inhouse and IBEW Electricians. Our electricians travel Northwestern Ontario and interact directly with our customers.  An electrician is a skilled tradesman in charge of wirings and systems which provide electric power to a facility. They are trained to design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems. Traveling is a vital key to their role, out of town work is expected to exceed local work. Electricians usually specialize in different areas, including: construction, maintenance, industrial and residential. Electricians will also be involved in the design and planning of electrical systems, and may be required to supervise and train apprentices.

Instrumentation 

Our team has highly skilled Instrumentation Technicians, our in house Technicians travel Northwestern Ontario to a variety of customer sites and interact directly with our customers.  Instrumentation Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing instrumentation and control systems in industrial and commercial settings. An Instrumentation Technician should have a strong technical background of instrument and control systems, with experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of these systems. They should have strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. They should also be able to communicate effectively with customers and other stakeholders. Instrumentation Technicians should be familiar with industry standards and regulation such as ISA, ANSI, and OSHA.

PLC Design and Programming

Automation Now is a recognized Rockwell Automation System Integrator, we take pride in designing automated solutions that match our customers exact needs while accounting for future growth.   System Integrators apply their knowledge of electrical theory to analyze existing electrical systems in the context of current infrastructure, technical specifications, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and local codes, and design and implement electrical systems that meet the requirements of internal and external clients. In addition, they verify that electrical systems were designed and operate as intended. They may work on their own or with other technologists and engineers, electricians or instrumentation technicians. Systems Integrators assume responsibility and exercise independent judgment to perform technical tasks and solve problems in complex technological areas with limited direct supervision. The job duties of the Systems Integrator will include out of town work that is potentially weeks at a time. Out of town work will be scheduled to give notice, however, immediate service requests are required from time to time. These service requests can, and will include travel out of town. Systems Integrators are expected to behave ethically, communicate effectively, be creative and innovative, foster teamwork, lead, make decisions, organize and solve problems.

HVAC & Building Automation 

Automation Now is recognized as a Johnson Controls Integrator. Our HVAC and Building Automation team travel North Western Ontario servicing a variety of customers. We can troubleshoot, maintain, design and implement HVAC/BAS systems.  A Building Automation Technician specializes in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of building automation systems, which control and monitor various building systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning. Their responsibilities revolve around communicating with clients to identify their needs, troubleshooting, identifying the root of issues, and performing corrective measures. They may also perform regular maintenance checks to ensure that the devices are functioning efficiently and safely. As a Building Automation Technician, it is essential to explain the extent of repairs to the clients and recommend ways to maintain systems in good condition.

Panel Builder 

Automation Now is a CSA certified Panel Shop.  We design, build and CSA certify control panels, junction boxes and PLC here in Thunder Bay. Our inhouse design team can create a control solution to suit any site conditions. We work closely with our customers to ensure what they receive is exactly what they need. We are looking for detailed oriented individuals to join our production team.  

Draftsperson/AutoCAD

Automation Now produces all our drawings in house using AutoCAD. Our design/drafting team produces everything from single line drawings, cable schedules, interconnections, block diagrams, general arrangements, control panel drawing sets, network drawings to name a few. An Electrical Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for electrical systems and projects. An Electrical Draftsman should have a strong technical background, including knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and industry standards. They should also have experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and be familiar with electrical design and drafting standards. They should have strong attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Accounts Payable

Our Finance & Administration Team is looking for someone to provide administrative and clerical support to the Finance Manager by processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices, monitoring expenses, and ensuring invoices are paid in a timely manner. Strong data entry skills, attention to detail and knowledge of accounts payable processes are essential. Familiarity with Sage 50 is an asset.
